We managed to get an early start today, we had a big trip up from Albany to Freemantle which is just below Perth, to our surprise the trip was pretty close time wise to what people had told us, about 4 ½ hours, The trip was pretty uneventful, at one stage we passed through an area were bush fires had torn through, about 20 road miles wouldn’t hazard to guess how many acres. Regrowth was in place but it gives you an awful eerie feeling.
In the afternoon we took the bus in to Freemantle to have a look around. First the old gaol and then along the shoreline to the main harbour which was very pretty as the sun went down. Then to the station to check where the bus left from we were overwhelmed by an unbelievable stench, this came from the livestock boat as was explained to us by a local. It seems a ship of live animals was going to be shipped to the middle east (halal meat). Thank god for the legislation that has now come into place forbidding future shipments. Talk about animal cruelty.
Finally a nice dinner and an early night.
